Hi! I’m Marjorie.

I started Community by Association as a blog in 2018 to share the knowledge I was gaining as a community builder in a professional association. Why? Because there were nuances in this space that weren’t being surfaced in other practitioner communities and I knew others were facing similar challenges. It has since evolved into an online practitioner community and a way for me to help practitioners and organization leaders alike strategize for community programs that connect to organizational goals and deliver value for both members and the organization.

I specialize in building community in the association and nonprofit space and I am skilled at developing cohesive community strategies that connect to organizational goals and that consider the full user experience across an organization’s digital ecosystem.

I have had the opportunity to speak on the topic of online community at events such as Austin Startup Week and Higher Logic Super Forum and have worked with companies like On Deck to build strategic community education for their community builders fellowship. I have also appeared on podcasts such as Community Signal and Masters of Community.

Marjorie is a force of nature. If ever there was someone who gave more than they take, this is her. She has built impressive communities and is always a great friend to any community builder seeking advice, looking to advance their career, or levelling up their skills. Community by Association is a reflection of her and an indispensable free resource for the community of community builders!
